
Kenneth H. J. Gardiner (1932-2011) received his PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London in 1964, and two years later he joined the Faculty of Asian Studies, the Australian National University (ANU), Canberra as a lecturer in Early Chinese and Korean history. He retired from the position of Senior Lecturer at ANU in 1992.

Sang Hyun KIM (1947-2013) received his PhD from Dongguk University, Seoul and subsequently joined his alma mater as a faculty member. He held various important positions at Dongguk University as a professor of history, Director, Center of Research for Silla Culture and Dean, Faculty of Humanities. He wrote numerous books on various aspects of Korean Buddhism (in Korean), including Huayan Thought in Silla, Wonhyo Seen from the Lens of History, Silla Thought and Culture and A Survey of the History of Korean Buddhism.

Pankaj N. Mohan (1955- ) studied East Asian languages and history, initially at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and subsequently at Peking University, Beijing and Seoul National University, Seoul where he completed M.A. in Korean history. He received his Ph.D. degree in East Asian history from the Australian National University, Canberra. He taught courses in Korean language, history and culture for approximately two decades at several universities in Europe and Australia, including the University of Copenhagen and the University of Sydney. Subsequently he worked as Professor and Dean of the Faculty of International Korean Studies, the Academy of Korean Studies, South Korea (2009-2014) and Professor and Dean, School of Historical Studies, Nalanda University, Rajgir (India). His teaching and research interests include history of Buddhist culture in East Asia and inter-Asian connections.
